Get Your Frock On
Two charities, one vision.
Get Your Frock On! is a partnership between Animal Free Research UK and Breast Cancer UK. We’re changing the way that charities work by combining our expertise to fund animal free research into the prevention of breast cancer.
Together, the two charities have bold plans to change our understanding of breast cancer prevention.
What research will we be doing?
Led by scientist Professor Valerie Speirs, from the University of Leeds, the study will help researchers to further understand the role played by potentially harmful chemicals and their impact on breast density.
High breast density is a key risk factor for breast cancer. The research will explore whether endocrine disrupting chemicals (EDCs) have an impact on breast density and help to identify ways in which breast cancers can be prevented in the future.
No animals will be used in the research. Instead, human tissue samples from national and international breast tissue biobanks will be used.
Why is prevention important?
1 in 8 women will be diagnosed with breast cancer in the UK, that's over 55,000 women. Yet, we still don't understand all the causes of breast cancer. We need to fund more research into the causes of breast so that we can prevent more people being diagnosed.
It’s a simple ask with a serious message. So whoever you are let’s get our frocks on to beat breast cancer and save animals.
